My Mother's Daughter

Yesterday, I mentioned that Kim Kardashian is someone I would not want to femulate. That begs the
question, who would I want to femulate?

Over the years, there have been many.

Early on, Jacqueline Kennedy, Jean Shrimpton and April Ashley inspired me. Later on it was Jacqueline Bisset and Jaclyn Smith. Today, Elizabeth Banks, Kate Beckinsale and Olivia Wild are very femulatable. And old movie stars still inspire me today: Ann Sheridan, Hedy Lamarr, Dana Wynter and Janet Leigh to name a few.

Marian commented a short list of her favorites including actress Katherine Heigl.

It has been awhile since I watched a Katherine Heigl film, but over the weekend, I happened to catch two: Knocked Up and Killers. They reminded me how beautiful and voluptuous she is, which is atypical for actresses these days who tend to be anorexic thin.

Today, Katherine Heigl is probably near the top of my list of women I would want to femulate.

Then there is my mother.

A beautiful woman in many ways, she is easier to femulate than my other inspirations because I look a lot like her. If we were ever seen together, there would be no doubt that we were mother and daughter.

Out On A Limb

I'll going out on a limb with this, but I don't think Kim Kardashian is so hot. In my opinion, she is not very pretty and far from beautiful. And by the way, I am not impressed by big rear ends.

I can think of hundreds of women, both male and female, who are prettier than Kim. She is certainly not someone I would want to femulate.

But that's me. Obviously, there are a lot of people who would disagree with my assessment including a New York transwoman who underwent tens of thousands of dollars worth of plastic surgery to look like Kardashian!

December Surprise

Thank you all for the condolences regarding my mother-in-law’s death that you sent me in comments and e-mails. The past ten days were very stressful and tiring; your kind words brightened some very dark days.

My mother-in-law was a kind-hearted person and made a lot of sacrifices during her life to help strangers and relatives alike. She was very fashion-conscious and had a wardrobe that rivaled my own.

She was also very old school and did not approve of Stana. I never dressed en femme in her presence, so I don’t know what she thought I was doing when I crossdressed, but I learned through another relative that her son, my brother-in-law, convinced her that I was “mentally unstable.”

As a result, my feelings for my in-laws cooled after that. For my wife’s sake, I went along and acted as if I did not know anything, but it upset me. To alleviate the hurt, I hatched a plot where I would show at my in-law’s Christmas family get-together dressed to the nines.

I never carried out my plan in deference to my wife, but it made me smile whenever I thought about it.

Just Being Fab

On the 1st of every month, JustFab furnishes me with a new selection of styles in my private online boutique. I have five days to pick an item from my private boutique or to tell JustFab to skip a month. If I don't, I get charged $39.95, which I can use for future purchases.

I usually skip a month because a lot of JustFab's offerings are not available in my size. On the other hand, their handbags always fit and I have a couple of JustFab bags in my wardrobe.

Some months I forget to skip a month and as a result, I have four months of credit ($159.80) in my account.

Tuesday, being the 1st of month, I received an e-mail from JustFab to shop my September boutique.
I skipped the month and used my four months of credit to buy clothes for the fall: four new dresses ― two wrap dresses, a twist front dress and a ruched crossover asymmetrical dress.

Shipping was free and so are returns, so if something does not fit, I will be disappointed, but it will not cost me anything.

In your dreams!

I came across the following article on the Internet Monday morning and it sure got my attention!

After the initial shock and awe ('Aw, isn't "she" cute!') wore off, I smelled a rat.

First clue was the lower photo. It was not proportioned correctly; no professional media provider would do such a sloppy job.

Next, I reread the article and found numerous spelling ("thou") and grammatical errors, most notably not ending past tense verbs with -ed ("look" vs. "looked") and the lack of commas where there should be commas.

I searched the Internet for the news article and found nothing. 

I aslo searched for "Lafayette Reporter" and its esteemed writer "Helen Rodriquez" and came up empty. (The article even misspelled Rodriguez!)

I did find a Lafayette Little League in Louisiana, but there was no "Beth Sadler" among its staff and no mention of a "Little Miss Lafayette" pageant, nor the fact that "Jacob Sadler" was its winner.

Finally, I performed a Google Image search for the photos and the only other place they appear is on crossdressing-related websites that republished the same article.

And so it goes.

Transgirls just wants to have fun!

Now that my new book, Fantasia Fair Diaries, is done, I would like to have some fun as my favorite time of year (autumn) arrives!

Shopping is always fun for me and with Fantasia Fair less than seven weeks away, I can shop for my trip to Provincetown. I really have just about everything I need. Just have to stock up on hosiery and find a debutante ball gown!

The theme of this year's Virginia Prince Transgender Pioneer Award Banquet is Fantasy Debutante Ball and I haven't a thing to wear! Sure I own a few evening gowns and cocktail dresses, but none of them really qualify as a "debutante ball gown."

A girl can't have enough shoes (at least, this girl "can't") and when I noticed that Nine West was having a BOGO sale earlier this week, I pointed my browser to their website as fast as possible to order the "lavish T-strap pump" that I was drooling over last week. But I was very disappointed ― they were sold out in my size!

I'll keep my fingers crossed and maybe they will restock my size!

It's official or as "official" as it's going to get!

Jan Brown and I will present "Things You Can Do When You're All Dressed Up" Friday morning (Oct. 23, 10-11:30 AM) at Fantasia Fair. Jan's bio is here and my updated bio is here.

Here is the description of our workshop:

"Jan and Stana will share their experiences about getting out into the wide world and exploring things. Both Jan and Stana (of Femulate.org fame) have been out in various places all over the USA. They will talk about their early ventures and will relate to their feelings on the journey. For example, they are vigilant and try to be aware of their surroundings. It helps to go places with others. There are a lot of what-if's along the way. What would you do if you are stopped by the police en route somewhere? What if you recognize someone or someone recognizes you? What would it be like to attend a show on Broadway? Where do I go to the bathroom? This will be an interactive presentation and will include discussion of family situations. Hopefully, we'll all learn new ideas to enjoy our life even more. Please join us!"

Distracted, Inspired and Jealous

It's lucky for the sake of my job that I work in an engineering environment.

There are 70 employees in the division where I work and 15 are female. Most of the females are either hardware or software engineers or technicians. Most of the time, they dress like the male engineers and technicians ― business casual or more typically, less than business casual slacks and tops.

On the other hand, I am attached to the marketing department reporting to a female manager, who reports to a female director. They typically dress business formal. Their offices are at the opposite end of the building from mine, so I don't run into them that often (and see what they are wearing).

This morning, my boss came to talk to me about an assignment. She was wearing a sleeveles black sheath dress, black heels, nude hosiery, multi-colored scarf and understated jewelry. She looked very classy.

I was immediately distracted, inspired and jealous at the same time.

I want to come to work dressed like her! And I lingered on that thought for awhile instead of doing my job.

Good thing such encounters occur infrequently. If I worked in an office full of women all dressed business formal, I'd never get any work done!
