Five Seconds of Fame

My ham radio sister, Alison, WA1YKL, spotted me in a video from last week's Hamvention. Coincidentally, the video was shot by the fellow who won last year's Special Achievement Award. I appear for about five seconds starting at the 1:00:46 mark.

I wish it was me!

Rowen
Femulating Taylor Swift

Back in January, I mentioned some YouTube femulation videos that impressed me. One in particular, by a tween-aged boy named Rowen, impressed me the most with his enhusiasm and reaction to his transformation; he thought he looked pretty and wanted "to stay like this." (I think we all can sympathize with those sentiments!)

The lovely Rowen is back with a new transformation video. This time his sister and cousin help turn him into (by popular demand) a near perfect likeness of singer Taylor Swift. I was impressed again and you will be too if you watch his transformation here. (I wish it was me!)

Girls on YouTube

Sunday some friends and relatives stopped by for dinner (deep fried turkey with all the fixings) and to watch the NFL playoff games.

After the company left and we cleaned up, I collapsed on the couch and surfed the channels looking for something entertaining and/or trans-related. I ended up watching Boat Trip figuring it had some femulating potential. There was some drag in the film, but nothing to write home about.

With my laptop lap, I began surfing the Internet looking for any womanless pageants and male-to-female transformations that I have not seen.

There was one pageant and one transformation that were worth noting (this pageant and this transformation), but the highlight of my late night surfing was this video of a tween-aged boy being transformed into a tween-aged girl at the hands of his sister. The boy's enthusiasm is addictive and his reaction to his transformation is priceless.

I don't have a clue if he is trans. He has a couple of other transformation videos online and at the conclusion of this one, he thinks he looks pretty and "wants to stay like this."

So, you go, girl!

Femulating on the Tube

High School Girls

Anna Maria and Paula alerted me to a Shiseido cosmetics advertisement featuring what is purported to be a class of Japanese high school girls, who are actually femulated boys. The ad is amazing not only because the femulations are perfect, but because of the time and effort put into producing the ad.

You can see the ad here:

I'll Switch

Poking around the Internet, I discovered The Switch, a television show from Chile, which features femulators competing in song. The program is sort of a combination of The Voice and Ru Paul's Drag Race.

The contestants are drag queens female impersonators, that is "men who live a regular life throughout the day... but in the evening they transform themselves into great (pop) stars." but in In my opinion, their transformations are less drag and more ladylike, that is, they look more like professional female singers rather than drag queens.

There are a bunch of videos on YouTube from The Switch. Here are two samples:

By the way, The Switch is also the name of a new Canadian television program, which "features Julie Vu, a transgender woman and YouTube sensation, in the lead role of an upwardly mobile IT manager who loses her job and Vancouver apartment after coming out of the closet.

"But rather than being a downer, the Canadian single-camera comedy follows Vu's character as she rebuilds her life in Vancouver's queer underground with the help of friends, including five transgender characters, each played by a transgender actor." (Source: The Hollywood Reporter)

Video Me

videocap1

This was totally unexpected!

While staffing our booth at Hamvention three weeks ago, a video crew from an online ham radio news website interviewed some of my peeps and the video from those interviews came online earlier this week.

Although I was not interviewed, I appear in some of the 51 minutes of video footage standing behind the person being interviewed. (If I knew I was being videotaped, I would have made an effort to increase my presence.)

You can watch all 51 minutes of video to see my appearances, but if you are not interested in the technologies being discussed, it might be boring. So to save you the trouble, I logged the times of my appearances and you can fast-forward to those times to see me.

Look for me in the polka dot dress standing behind the fellow being interviewed at time marks 3:16, 10:40, 16:00, 19:00, and 20:32. Later, I appear wearing my black and white print sheath at time mark 43:40. The last two (20:32 and 43:40) are probably the best of the bunch.

All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up.

Videos You Must See

2013-02-05_stav_strashko

Two must-see transgender videos came my way in the last 24 hours.

Thanks to Juan over at New Male Fashions for the Alternative Man, I viewed a new music video, Push the Button by Alon Ben Ziv, featuring the gender ambiguous Stav Strashko. Click here to take you to Juan's blog where you can view it. You will be amazed and probably confused!

The other video comes by way of India and it is a promo for a DVD of Aravani Girl, an award-winning film that documents the lives of five Indian teenage boys who have decided to change their sex. The promo sold me and I think it might convince you to buy the DVD, too. Click here to view the video.

Masculine Women, Feminine Men

I finished packing yesterday and loaded the luggage in the Subaru for departure to Provincetown and Fantasia Fair at about 10 AM today. The next blog post you read here will come to you form P-Town.

In the meantime, I leave you with a great video from YouTube: "Masculine Women, Feminine Men."

I See Girly Boys

2012-08-25_toyota

I refer you two videos featuring males who are so feminine that it makes a femulator want to trade in her Jimmy Choos for Birkenstocks.

The first video features model Stav Strashko wearing a string bikini in a Toyota commercial. I recommend reading Mary Elizabeth Williams' commentary that accompanies the video.

The second video features model Andrej Pejic in interview mode. It is four months old, but I just discovered it a few days ago. I originally viewed it with the sound off and was very impressed how feminine Andrej's mannerisms seem to be. View it with the sound off and perhaps you will agree.

Before I finalize my plans for attending simultaneous conferences in Atlanta next month, I am trying to figure out how to divide my time between the ham radio conference and the transgender conference (Southern Comfort).

Should I stay in the ham conference hotel or trans conference hotel? The conferences are 25 miles apart on opposite sides of Atlanta, so I have to choose carefully.

***

Just a thought... Monday I have jury duty. Should I go en femme?

***

I just moderated a comment on a July 2007 post titled "feminine skirts and dresses for men." Would you believe that that post has 172 comments? By far, that post has received more comments than any of the other 2,271 posts I have published here in 5-1/2 years.

I’ll Have a Drag Christmas Without You

Cheryl sent me a link to an excellent YouTube video titled "A Drag Christmas."

Snooping around YouTube, I found two additional videos from the same show: "All I Want for Christmas" and "Turkey Lurkey Time."

You tell me who are the girls and who are the femulators in these videos. I am fairly certain that the singer in "All I Want for Christmas" is a femulator because her voice gives her away and I think all the leggy dancers in "A Drag Christmas" are femulators because they all seem a little too flat-chested and small-bottomed, but I could be wrong.

In any case, enjoy the videos!

College Drag

2011-10-17_nick-gresh---penn-state-univ Miss Jan Brown, the Fantasia Fair program director and an old gal pal, is a regular reader of this blog (who isn't?) and she commented from Provincetown that all is well at the Fair, despite my absence!

Anyway, regarding the video of the high school Lady Gaga impersonator, Jan referred me to a collegiate drag show at Penn State over the weekend (as covered by the University's independent newspaper, The Daily Collegian).

Viewing The Daily Collegian article I was duly impressed by freshman Nick Gresh's femulation (see photo) and after a little Googling, I found a related video.

(Ah --- to be young and femulating again!)

Andrej as Marilyn

2011-10-12_pejic-as-monroe From today’s The Huffington Post, “After landing numerous covers striking his best womanly pose, Andrej Pejic gets to play one of the most famous women ever: Marilyn Monroe… For Lovecat's Fashion + Film Issue…”

You can view a slideshow of the amazing photoshoot here and an amazing video here.

I am sure you will enjoy and appreciate them as much as I did.

Your Halloween Photos

Thank you all who sent me your femulating Halloween photos for display in THE FEMULATED slot during the month of October. There is room for more, so send me yours if you haven't already.

YouTube

I had a wrestling match with YouTube last night and I lost as you can see by the broken video in the AND HER, TOO slot. I will attempt to fix it as soon as I can.

New Cocktail Dress

Looks like I will get my new cocktail dress in time to model at the fashion show on Friday, that is, assuming it fits. Ideeli shipped it yesterday and according to the UPS tracker, it arrived at the local UPS facility this morning, so I will probably get it tomorrow.

Back to Reality

I was on vacation last week. Stayed up late most nights and slept in late most mornings.

So getting up at 5:30 AM Monday morning was difficult. To make matters worse, I now find Orion peeking through the bathroom skylight instead of rays from Mr. Sun.

Day Three of reality and I am still not acclimated to my normal schedule!

Viewing "And Her, Too" in Full Screen Mode

Yesterday, I added the following note below the And Her, Too image: (Viewing in Full Screen mode is best!)

The Full Screen mode provides a big enhancement to the video. It is like the difference between night and day --- I highly recommend it.

To enter the Full Screen mode, click on the button (image above) in the lower left corner of the And Her, Too window.

To exit the Full Screen mode, press the Escape key (ESC) on your computer's keyboard.

Kinks

I am still working out the kinks in the video version of our Femulate Her feature, so please bear with me.

As I mentioned in a comment yesterday, you need the free Adobe Flash Player installed in your web browser in order to properly view the video. (You can get Flash Player here.)

Also, I successfully tested the video playback with three different browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari) on two different platforms (Windows XP, Mac OS X), so if yours is one of those and the video still stinks, the problem may be at your end. I suggest updating your web browser if it is not current.

Speaking of kinks, I was a big fan of the British Invasion (the rock 'n' roll version, not the Revolutionary War version) and The Kinks were one of my favorite groups from that era. I had all their records, but when they came out with "Lola," I was embarrassed.

Every time that song played while I was in the presence of anyone who potentially had an inkling about my interest in crossdressing, I was sure that the other person must be thinking about me dressing up.

A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then, but I still react the same way to that tune.

Go figure!

By the way, in the "you learn something new everyday" department, I always thought that Marilyn Monroe was the model for the May 1965 Esquire magazine cover shot (see above). Turns out that it was not Miss Monroe, but rather Italian actress Virna Lisi.

The "Femulate Her:" Video Experiment

If you have been viewing this blog lately, you may have noticed the video versions of Femulate Her: appearing here in the main section of the blog, i.e., the center column.

After experimenting with this feature for the past few days, I finally managed to get the video to appear in the Femulate Her: sidebar, too, and that is where it will appear in the future.

I hope you enjoy this new feature!

YouTube Femulate Channel

I have nothing to do with it, but there is now a Femulate channel on YouTube. Ashley informed me about it and I checked it out briefly, but I did not watch the three videos that are online there. Maria Jose from Finland is responsible for the channel.
