Watching the Inaugural Committee's “Celebrating America” last night, I noticed a number of trans people performing during some of the musical performances. Another sign that Trump's “War on Transgenders” is over!

Similarly, Mikki mentioned it and I noticed it, too: the “fashionista” (photo above) in a new Lexus commercial seems to be either “trans or a very good femulator.” (Isn't that the same thing?).

Femulating Film Update Dept.

A week ago, the Femulator slot featured a scene from Delitto al Blue Gay, an Italian film “jam-packed with femulators.” A day after the post, the link to view the film in its entirety on YouTube was dead, but I did find the film on Facebook and that link is still good as of today.

The film is in Italian, does not have English sub-titles and was poorly reviewed, but it is worth watching to see all the pretty femulators and to hear them sing in English (go figure), “Man or woman, man or woman, makes no difference... ”

I have a good friend that is supportive of my femulating. A fortnight before Christmas, my friend wanted to visit a gown shop. I travelled by public transport to meet them, then we went on to the shop by bus. We had to change services, so took the opportunity to walk around the outdoor market.

My friend will not wear a mask, but has a battered visor. I wore a leopard print mask. We stopped to look at a stall with visors and glass frames. And a stall salesperson swooped on the potential customers. As the first stall salesperson tried to persuade us to buy two masks. A second stall salesperson approached and asked, “Are you sisters?” 

He tried again, “Mother and daughter?” 

I replied, “Co-workers.”

The War Dept.

If you are a life-long femulator with natural feminine chracteristics (like me), you have likely been the victim of the slings and arrows of white male toxicity at one time or another, as exemplified by our twice impeached president. This article, recommended by Velma, is an expose of white male toxicity and although it does not mention it, white male toxicity is probably an element in Trump's four-year “War on Transgenders.”

Prettiest Kid in the Hall Dept.

During a 2010 interview for The Kids in the Hall television series Death Comes to Town, Dave Foley (photo right) was asked, “Well, Kids in the Hall fans always say that you made the prettiest woman, so I guess it would make sense that you play Marilyn.”

“It’s true,” Dave replied, “Though I’m not as pretty as I used to be.”

Same Old, Same Old Dept.

Just watched the trailer for Transhood, a new HBO documentary that chronicles the lives of four transgender kids.

Maybe I am jaded, but it looks like more of the same. I am sure it is well done (most HBO documentaries are), but I wish there was a new sympathetic in-depth documentary about crossdressers – not transsexuals, not drag queens, not trans kids, but crossdressers. Now that would be something new under the sun.

Don’t Miss Miss

Miss is a new French film with the following plot (according to IMDb): “A young man seeking his sexual identity decides to take part in the Miss France beauty pageant.”

Sounds interesting from a femulator’s perspective, but to sweeten the pot, Alexandre Wetter plays the young man in question and he is absolutely gorgeous. So gorgeous that he is a male womenswear model, who I have featured in the Femulator slot about a half-dozen times.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so take a look at the images I captured from the film and I think you will agree that Alexandre’s femulation is not to be missed.

The most recent film femulation of Charley’s Aunt was by
Thomas Heinze in the 1996 German version of the play.

About a million years ago, I shopped in boy mode for my female wardrobe, but I always had an excuse to justify my purchase to the sales representatives (as if she cared or even believed me). As a result, I did a lot of shopping in October using Halloween as an excuse, but what’s a budding girl to do the other 11 months of the year?

I went to the UCONN branch in Waterbury and one day on the way home, I drove through downtown and noticed that a new woman’s clothing store had opened. I learned that it was a large woman’s clothing store – a perfect fit for a size 18 like me.

The store was opened Thursday evenings, so I decided to shop there then because there would be less foot traffic downtown and I’d be less likely to run into anyone I knew.

So one winter evening, I drove downtown to shop at the store. There was hardly anyone out and about downtown or in the store, which turned out to be owned by a mother and daughter, who greeted me when I entered their establishment.

The Mom asked if I needed any help. Since it was three months after Halloween, I had to come up with a new excuse , so I hit her with, “I need a dress because I am going to play the ‘aunt’ in my school's production of Charley’s Aunt.”

The Mom and daughter seemed interested in my story and asked a few questions about the play. My answers did not help my cause and I doubt that they bought my story, but they helped me find an appropriate dress and I even got to use a woman’s dressing room for the first time!

Don’t know if you are familiar with the plot of Charley’s Aunt, but femulating is involved and the play has been a popular work for the film and television. I did not realize how popular until I researched the topic and discovered that there have been at least 15 film and television versions of the play. The play is most popular in the USA and Germany, which boast five and four versions respectively. I was surprised that there is even a version back in the USSR titled Hello, I’m Your Aunt. Where’s Charley? and the European Charley’s Tante are other titles used for the same play.

The femulations vary from unconvincing “men in dresses” to passable middle-aged ladies, but since the play is a farce, even the men in dresses can get away with it.

10 Films To Watch After Watching Netflix's Trans Film Documentary

ScreenRant recommended 10 films to view after watching Netflix’s eye-opening documentary about the depiction of trans people in film and TV.

According to ScreenRant, “Netflix's latest documentary, Disclosure: Trans Lives On Screen, is an in-depth look at how the lives and personalities of transgender people are depicted in films and television. While a tad divisive in its opinions (Is Tootsie offensive? Is there anything wrong with the film Boys Don't Cry? Should Silence of the Lambs be taken so seriously?) the film has its heart in the right place and it is sobering to hear the voices who, for decades, weren't allowed to be heard.”

ScreenRant lists ten films that “show the transgender community in a positive light... where filmmakers got it right.”

I have seen five of the recommended ten and don’t agree with all of their selections, but that’s just my humble opinion. I would add these five films in addition to ScreenRant’s suggestions: Better Than Chocolate, Breakfast on Pluto, Bruno, Just Like A Woman and my current favorite, The New Girlfriend.
