Monday Meanderings

Shoe Horse Dept.

Some may call me a "clothes horse" and I won't deny it, but when it comes to shoes, I plead guilty to being a "shoe horse." I stopped counting, but I own well over a hundred pairs of women's shoes. On the other hand (or should I say "other foot"), I own about a half-dozen pairs of men's shoes.

Anyway, I absolutely fell in love with this pair of pumps that I saw in the daily email ad from Nine West. And it comes in my size! And with the online discount, I can save 30% off the list price. But I need another pair of shoes like I need another hole in my head and I am trying to resist buying them.

Be strong, Stana, be strong.

Promises Made, Promises Broken Dept.

In last Wednesday's post, I promised to catch up with answering my mail. Stuff kept happening and I broke my promise, but I hope to catch up before this post appears.

Tooting My Own Horn Dept.

Actually, Joey tooted about me and the blog yesterday and I am just passing it along to you in case you missed it. (Thank you for the kind words, Joey!)

Vote Early and Often Dept.

Voting en femme is on my bucket list. Can't do tomorrow, but someday...

Anyway, be sure to vote tomorrow!

Stuff Happens

Happy Halloween!

This is the first Halloween in awhile that I have not dressed pretty for the occasion. But, as they say, "stuff happens." Things have been VERY hectic around here the past few days and I have had almost zero time for anything related to femulating. I have not even had time to answer my mail, but I hope to catch up with that by the end of the day.

So I apologize to my readers who show up here every day to find something fresh (pun intended) only to find Monday's post at the top of the page.

Flu-Like Symptoms

Throughout my adult life, I never had the flu and never bothered getting a flu shot.

Last winter, I caught the flu for the first time and when the symptoms peaked on a Friday night, my daughter took me to the ER. The hospital sent me home with a prescription and I recovered quickly. However, with people my age dropping like flies all around me from the flu, I promised myself that I would get a flu shot this fall.

I got a flu shot last week and a few days later, I began to feel lousy.

I felt so lousy that I skipped two Halloween parties, thus missing an opportunity to wear the new costume that I assembled for the holiday. So I packed the costume away for next year and so it goes.

Joey's favorite Halloween picture is possibly the only Halloween picture of him crossdressed when he volunteered to work in a store on Halloween 2010. You can read all about it here on Joey's blog.

Leaf it to me

Last year, the fall leaf count on my little acre was 16,730,421. This year, the leaf count will probably be about the same because the tree count did not change.

I go out twice a week to deal with the fall. My fallen leaf weapons include a rake, an electric handheld blower and a gas-powered wheeled blower.

The handheld blower has a narrow concentrated field of blow, whereas the wheeled blower has a wider field of blow. So I first use the handheld to move leaves that are stuck in nooks and crannies and then I use the wheeled blower to move leaves to the leaf hills and ridges in the woods that surround my property. (I avoid using the rake if at all possible.)

Depending on how thorough I am, it takes 90 minutes to two hours to do the job. Add another 30 minutes if I wear heels instead of flats.

Summer's Fading Fast

Some of the trees in my neck of the woods are starting to change color. And a few outliers are already shedding their leaves.

Where did the summer go? It sure came and went fast! And is gone for good on Saturday.

Seems like I spent the summer going to doctors, cleaning the garage and watching the Red Sox. Not much femulating and this girl is anxious to get out!

My leg has healed enough so that what remains to heal can be hidden under my pantyhose or thigh high stockings. And instead of being embarrassed about my varicose-veined leg, now I can be happy that my left leg matches my right leg, not to mention no more vein pain.

I'd love to go to Fantasia Fair next month, but it is not in the cards. My wife can't handle all the walking that the Fair requires and I am loathe to leave her at home alone for a week or even a half-week. I wish the Fair had day rates and then I'd go up to P-Town for a day or two to see my friends and take in some of the Fair's events.

All is not lost. I look forward to girl days and nights out and about in Connecticut this fall.

Fall Fever

Source: Boston Proper
I am not a summer person. I don't like the heat, hate humidity more, and dread summerwear because the clothes of summer are too revealing.

It is not that I mind showing a little skin, but it requires a lot of hair removal. For example, when I wear a skimpy bikini to the beach, it requires hours of depilation.

I prefer fall. The clothes are less revealing and require less prep in the hair removal department.

Sans hurricanes, the weather is beautiful here in September. It is cool enough to femulate without worrying about wig, makeup or foundation garment perspiration, yet it is warm enough to go out without a coat.

Also, the fall fashions are my favorites. Don't you love the outfit pictured right; I wish I had the youth to wear it!

Got Coats?

Femulate Contributing Editor Susan King of Transitioning into Tomorrow fame joins us again with her collection of coats.

Fall is here. It's time to pull out the fall and winter clothing. I love this time of year because the clothes cover up more of my male attributes and creates a slimmer silhouette.

A must for this time of years is a set of coats. In 2014/2015, I bought three nice coats and I cannot wait to wear them again.

I am going to look for one or two new coats this season.

Below is an infographic about woman coats and which coat type to wear with your outfit.
Here are my three current coats.

I bought this brown coat with the fur collar while in New Jersey. I forgot to pack one and forget how cold it was in Jersey versus Atlanta. I found this coat at the local goodwill store.

This is my pea coat. I love this coat. It's so cute and works with my leggings. I bought it at Burlington Coat Factory.

I bought this coat while trying to find a pea coat. I liked the style and it's hooded. The light color allows me to wear this coat with different color leggings that I cannot wear with my brown and white/black pea coat.

This season, I am looking for a full-length coat.

Fall

Dave Foley femulates for the Halloween
office party on television's NewsRadio.
We are on the brink of August, which means we are on the brink of autumn, my favorite season.

Some of you are thinking, "She's crazy! Summer is only half over... there are over six weeks before fall arrives."

By the calendar, that is true, but in my neck of the woods on the top of a 1000-foot hill in Southern New England, the summer weather lasts about eight weeks tops and the autumn weather shows up in late August (there is a tree across the street that begins changing colors in about two weeks).

I do not enjoy hot summer weather. When the thermometer is in the neighborhood of 90 degrees, I glisten profusely due to the wig, makeup, shapewear, etc. Sure, I could wear my bikini when the weather heats up, but summer will be over by the time I get rid of all the hair that fashion statement requires. So autumn is for me.

As fall approaches, my thoughts turn to Fantasia Fair. I have attended four times, always have a great time and would love to see the friends I have made at past Fairs, but due to family health issues, I cannot get away for a week, However, a half-week might be doable... I will have to make up my mind soon if I want to get a room at the inn.

Autumn also means that Halloween is on its way. In fact, it is three months from today, but falls on a Saturday this year.

Going to work en femme on Halloween has become an annual event, but since I don't work on Saturdays, I will have to go to work en femme on the Friday before Halloween. Since Fridays are casual dress days at my workplace, skinny jeans or leggings might be more appropriate than a skirt or dress, but I have plenty of time to decide.
