On My Feet

Tanit commented on my photo in the Femulate Illustrated post, “Very nice - show us the shoes!”

Her wish is my command, so here are photos of my new shoes.

Nine West Bliss pointy toe pumps in a metallic paint snake print (these are “killer” heels and they will require some breaking in before I will feel comfortable wearing them out):

JustFab Sophie peep toe pumps in natural (these 3.5-inch heels are very comfortable and very cute – love the tiny gold padlock):

And I just ordered these from Nine West, their Beck ankle-strap pumps in ivory:

A Good Fit

JustFab had a clearance sale last week and I ordered a pair of shoes and a dress.

The shoes were a pair I had seen weeks ago, but did not purchase because I assumed they would eventually go on sale. The dress was an afterthought – I intended to only to buy the shoes, but was tempted by the ridiculously low prices of the dresses on sale. (With a credit I had, the shoes and dress only cost me $13.15 out of pocket.)

Sophie Peep Toe Pump is nude with black ankle straps and 3.5” heels. Made of faux leather/suede, the buckle on each ankle strap has a cute little gold padlock.

Button Front Sweater Dress is striped with a V-neck made of rib knit fabric. It is a midi with a buttoned front and belted waist closure. It clings to the body and shows off every curve – at least that was how the dress looked on the model.

I placed my order last Monday and had low expectations on its delivery – JustFab has been notoriously slow in the past, so I was surprised when they informed me that FedEx would deliver my order the following Monday (yesterday). I was even more surprised when the order showed up a day early on Sunday!

Size-wise, I have been having good luck ordering clothing from JustFab. Their dresses, skirts and tops in size XL are just fab on me. But I hold my breath regarding shoe size. More often than not, their largest size (12) is too small for me and I have to return them. So when the package arrived on Sunday, I immediately tried on the shoes and voila! they were a perfect fit.

Next I tried on the dress and it fit, too, and just like the model, it clings to my body and shows off all my curves.

I can’t wait to go out wearing my new dress and heels!

I have a hunch

You may wonder why I am posting so often these days after announcing that I was reducing my blogging schedule.

The reason is that I have more free time on my hands than usual and that's because my back pain got worse and is preventing me from doing much of anything.

After receiving a clean bill of health regarding my annual physical, I complained about my back to my doctor, so he sent me for x-rays. They showed no problems, so he sent me for physical therapy.

The therapist says that my back problems are due to Kyphosis. Good news is that she believes that therapy will help me.

After two sessions of physical therapy, I feel much better. The backache is greatly reduced and I will continue going to therapy for eight more sessions to work on my Kyphosis.

Meanwhile, I am cooling my high heels until I am finished with therapy.

The outfit I ordered from JustFab arrived in the mail today and I tried it on without my usual shapewear. The skirt fits, but the sweater may be too big, so sooner or later, I need to try it on over shapewear to determine whether to return the sweater for a smaller size.

And so it goes.

Bad News, Good News

July was the hottest month ever in this neck of the woods. It also was one of my most miserable months health-wise.

I mentioned my Fourth of July sty in an earlier post. Worse was the backache that developed about the same time. It was so bad that there was no way I could comfortably squeeze into a dress and high heels and enjoy my womanhood.

Some days were better than others, but I felt poorly for weeks. One month later, I think I am finally seeing the light and my back is almost back too normal.

There was some good news on my health front. I had my annual checkup and received a clean bill of health. Also, I lost more weight and I am down to an all-time low as an adult.

Bad news, more of my clothes are too big now as a result of the weight loss. Good news is that I had credit at JustFab and purchased the plain skirt and slouchy dolman sweater for only $7.62!

If the Shoe Fits

I learned long ago that women's shoe sizes are all over the map. Sizes not only vary between shoe manufacturers, but the shoe sizes from the same manufacturer may also vary.

That being said, the best way to find shoes that fit is to go to a shoe store and try on the shoes in person.

That being said, sometimes you cannot go to a shoe store and have to buy shoes online size unseen. Such is the case with my most recent shoe purchases.

Recently, I had a hankering for a pair of gold high heel pumps and JustFab had just what I needed at a sales price of $21. JustFab is an online store with no brick and mortar presence, so I could not try on the shoe before purchasing it. I ordered a pair in my size (12, the largest size JustFab offers) and crossed my fingers until USPS delivered.

I also had a hankering for white ankle boots with a kitten heel and Payless had just what I needed at a sales price of $18. Payless has many brick and mortar stores in my neck of the woods, but checking their website, I could not find a local store that had the boots in my size. I ordered a pair in my size online and crossed my fingers until FedEx delivered.

USPS and FedEx delivered with different results.

JustFab's size 12 high heels were too small. I managed to squeeze my feet into the shoes, but the fit was so tight that there was no way I could walk in them comfortably for any length of time. USPS will return my shoes to JustFab for a refund.

Payless' size 12 boots fit perfectly. Not too loose and not too tight — they were just right!

And so it goes.

Update: I forgot to mention that JustFab shoes run small, so if you are a size 12 like me, you will probably find JustFab's size 12's too small (and 12 is the largest size they offer).

Just Being Fab

On the 1st of every month, JustFab furnishes me with a new selection of styles in my private online boutique. I have five days to pick an item from my private boutique or to tell JustFab to skip a month. If I don't, I get charged $39.95, which I can use for future purchases.

I usually skip a month because a lot of JustFab's offerings are not available in my size. On the other hand, their handbags always fit and I have a couple of JustFab bags in my wardrobe.

Some months I forget to skip a month and as a result, I have four months of credit ($159.80) in my account.

Tuesday, being the 1st of month, I received an e-mail from JustFab to shop my September boutique.
I skipped the month and used my four months of credit to buy clothes for the fall: four new dresses ― two wrap dresses, a twist front dress and a ruched crossover asymmetrical dress.

Shipping was free and so are returns, so if something does not fit, I will be disappointed, but it will not cost me anything.
