Do You Like Skinny Jeans?
I find women’s skinny jeans to be a handy item of clothing when looking for something quick and easy to wear. I initially bought a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans in size 12. They were comfortable and did a good job of disguising my hip/bum padding. Then I lost some weight and went down to a size 10. I felt great! With further effort I actually got down to a size 8.
But….
Yes, you know there is a but coming. I haven’t been very careful with my diet and exercise lately. The other night I was getting dressed to go to a group meeting and wanted to wear my black skinny jeans. They would have been the right, casual vibe for the venue. Well, once I had my shapewear on and tugged on the jeans, you guessed it, I couldn’t get them zipped. Frustrating.
Of course I didn’t keep the larger sizes, so I had to do a quick adjustment to some loose, light weight black slacks. That at least kept the outfit cohesive. But it serves as a good illustration of how different clothing sizes and fit are for men and women.
Women’s Clothing Is Body-Conscious
I think we all know that women’s clothing is designed to flatter and show off our curves. Unless you buy clothes that are cut loosely, the difference between two sizes can be small. That means that a small change in weight can quickly put you in the next size. I bet that’s why some women have what they call “fat clothes.” They can wear them when their weight goes up and down. I guess I’ll have to do the same thing. Or I can go back to being serious about watching my diet and getting exercise. What do you think? Do you have “fat” clothes?
I’ll Be Back
Hopefully, as a slimmer version of myself. I welcome comments and suggestions here on Stana’s page or by email at Jenn6nov at-sign gmail dot com.

the fat clothes are also for when they are retaining a little water..... (even if we know it is really ice cream) . I have a pair of Amanda tapered jeans, but not near a size 8, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteAgree Fiona. I'm just surprised at how little extra weight it takes before you are bumped to the next size. JJ
DeleteI'm an infrequent stay-at-home femulator, so only wear skirts or dresses when dressed and can offer no input on the wearing of pants. I do recognize that there are many occasions in life when a women would choose to wear pants instead of a skirt/dress.
ReplyDeleteYour post reminds me of a 1970s Hanes ad: why would a woman wear Hanes pantyhose when she can wear pants? I always thought, why would anyone ever choose to not wear pantyhose??
Elise, I'm actually thankful that women have the option. I find lots of outfits that look great with pants, leggings, etc. And yes of course wearing a skirt is so much fun as well. JJ
DeleteI am primary an in-home femulator, also, who occasionally will venture out for evening drives and strolls. For me, it is dresses only. When and where I was raised it was forbidden (socially) for women to wear pants. In the worst snowstorm and freezing cold girls, if the wore snow pants to school, they had to take them off from under their dresses. There was one women who did wear pants and she was shunned. To her dying day my mother never wore pants. It makes common sense for women to wear pants. I think my role models were June Cleaver and Harriet Nelson. For me, it is always dresses, heels and hosiery. My mind does not pull me towards women pants. I do not use hip or butt padding as I want to enjoy the comfort of wearing a dress. So, it is empire waist and sheaths that do not hug the frame. My granddaughter is a skinny butt who buys her jeans off the young men's racks at the store: no hips at all.
DeleteEverybody has a bigger size stored. Not “fat” just bigger. My women’s jeans have an elastic band. So cheating is easier. My women’s dress pants from Wally World have been taken in. So they can be let out if needed. After the holidays really going to work on losing. So I can fit my Speedo(bikini) for summer.
ReplyDeleteHi Glennda, yes, it is hard keeping that girlish figure. We must suffer for our vanity. ;) JJ
DeleteHi Norah! Thanks for the comment on the AI picture. It was done with the new Apple Image Playground. I was just fooling around with it and thought it was fun.
ReplyDeleteYou make great comments here. I think one of the tricks to keeping weight off is that when you lose some and get into a smaller size you need to get rid of the larger ones. Keeping them around is almost a self fulfilling prophecy. But then again look at me. Hugs, JJ
