A Christmas Karen is a 2022 film about a self-entitled “Karen,” who gets the full Dickens’ A Christmas Carol treatment.
The film is now playing on Amazon Prime. It was amusing, but I doubt that I would watch it again except to re-see the following things.
👠 Gary, the Ghost of Christmas Past, is dressed over-the-top wearing a white diaphanous trouser suit, strings of pearls, chunky high heel shoes, makeup, etc. – not your typical Dickens’ ghost ensemble.
👠 While Gary is revisiting Karen’s past, we find her as a teen yelling at a long-haired girl wearing Karen’s training bra. The “girl” is actually Karen’s gay brother and I had no idea “she” was a boy until he removed the wig. He passed well.
The average viewer would probably gloss over these things and forget about them. But being a hard-core femulator, I saw them and will remember them until they pry my miniskirt from my cold, dead hands.
I never forget the femulator events that cross my path. I can even recall the first femulation I ever encountered over 60 years ago: an Our Gang episode titled “Crazy House.” In that episode, a rich girl invites the gang to her elegant home for a party and all hell breaks loose. The girl wants to be a boy and convinces one of the male gang members to switch places with her and they crossdress in each other’s clothes.
I will never forget seeing the boy in the little girl’s short dress and thinking that he looked just like a little girl with short hair.

Could be me! I was 17 in 1959 and in 2018 I delight in being the woman I always knew was inside.

One in particular I remember was titled Mail and Female, in which Alfalfa had to retrieve a letter from his girlfriends home, and when his girl-hating mates turned up, he disguised himself as a girl, in a very fluffy white dress. And then flirted with the boys!
ReplyDeleteThere was another, maybe called Surprise Party, when Froggy (I think) set up booby traps at a party because he thought he hadn’t been invited. Upon finding out it was a mistake, he crashes the party (as a girl) to ensure he was the victim of his boobytraps.
Doubtless there are other Our Gang femulating episodes as well …

ReplyDeleteTo this very day I still recall that episode from Our Gang and how too I thought how fun it would be to have been that boy dressed in Bobbie socks and Mary Jane's and a cute dress. Might have been the first time in fact seeing that on TV, aside from Bugs Bunny femulating
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your comment about remembering certain femulating details until the end of time. I can barely remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, but I still vividly recall the details of outfits that female classmates wore decades ago that I wished I could wear.
ReplyDeleteI remember when uncle Miltie used to crossdress. Seem like every week. Of course Benny Hill too. Who could forget Flip Wilson.
ReplyDeleteLooking back at all the television shows and movies that depicted males cross dressing as females as humorous is still perplexing because at the time it seemed making jokes about cross dressing meant it was not acceptable. There was never any serious depictions of men wearing women's clothing. The closest portrayals were "Tootsie" and "Mrs. Doubtfire" which were comedy. If one was serious doubts about their sexuality, none of these shows were very helpful.
