Since I wear a dress far more than trousers, even out in public, I guess I'm not a civilian. But since I have beyond shoulder length hair and a noticeable bust I don't get weird looks. And nobody seems to be taken aback by my deep masculine voice which is much deeper than Dave Foley's.
I ALWAYS wear a cross body purse when I'm out and about. It does not matter if I wear a dress or a man's coat and tie outfit. I have inadvertently washed my cell phone when I left in a pocket in a bottom with pockets (trousers or skirts). Now washed cell phones don't work so well. Also I got sick and tired of picking up a bottom and have coins clatter to the floor. So I'm glad I discovered cross body purses.
I agree with Danny. I don't want to carry a purse. But skirt pockets are not well suited for carrying anything significant. These are first-world-crossdresser problems!
I understand your apprehension of carrying a purse as you could mislay it. That's why I use a cross body purse with a strap slung over my shoulder and across my body. And, as I noted above, I even wear it when I am wearing a man's coat and tie outfit. NOBODY has even taken me to task for my purse.
Dave Foley - my nominee for the "Not A Civilian" Award
ReplyDeleteSeriously! No doubt!
