I remember my grandpa driving his 1926 Nash until he decided to get an early 1950's Chevy. My dad got rid of his 1941 Oldsmobile, a hand-me-down from an older brother after WW2, and bought a used 1952 Chrysler. The seats in that Chrysler were like sitting in a living room chair.
How did you find out that your uncle was a femulator, Stana ? It's unfortunate that the two of you couldn't have had femme outings as "Aunt" and "niece" !
The evidence: (1) his high school yearbook included a photo of him dressed as a showgirl for a high school show (2) as an adult, he appeared as a female in two separate shows put on by a fraternal organization (3) while house-sitting, I discovered photos of him in drag, presumably taken during one of the shows mentioned in (2) (4) my sister took a photo of me in convincing drag for a Halloween party; the photo was one in a batch of family photos that my sister passed around at a family gathering; when my uncle was perusing the photos, he stopped at my en femme photo and studied it for an inordinate amount of time. I don’t know for sure if he was a civilian or not, but the evidence, circumstantial as it is, indicates that he may not have been a civilian.
If only he had realized that the two of you were kindred souls, Stana ! He could have made some discrete inquiries , and potentially the two of you could have had some en femme getaway weekends !
Stana Was dressing legal in the US at the time? Your uncle could have lost everything if the wrong people found out I think it was legal in the UK Unfortunately the assumption was that cross dressers were Gay, not legal until the late 1960s There were other laws the police could use to make dressing difficult Lucy
Crossdressing was illegal/legal on a state by state and city by city basis, so it depended on where you were located. I'm sure there are still anti-crossdressing laws on the books in some (many?) places in the USA. Whether the laws are enforced is another matter.
I have been watching Catherine and Liliane obsessively ever since you first mentioned them a few months ago. They are absolutely brilliant femulators, so natural as women. Sue x
How often do we desperately try to stop people finding out about our interest only to find they already know?
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wish, if my son or daughter do know, that one of them would say something to relieve the pressure of maintaining a secret.
DeleteI remember when cars like that were new models!!! Paula G
ReplyDeleteMy uncle owned that Chevy, but in orange. We used to call it "The Pumpkin!" Coincidentally, my uncle was not a civilian.
