Some of the retailers keep tabs on what I viewed on their website and a day or two after a visit, I will receive an email reminding me of what caught my eye. Such is the case after a recent visit to Boston Proper.
I liked a certain dress, but the price ($169.50) was way too rich for my blood. Next day or two, I received an email from Boston Proper reminding me what I viewed on their website. My response was “Thanks, but no thanks.”
Boston Proper was persistent and I received another email or two trying to temp me to buy the dress. My response was still the same – no thanks.
Earlier this week, Boston Proper informed me that they had reduced price of the dress. Visiting their website, I found that the dress was now $84.98 – half the original price.
I was tempted – so much so that I put the dress in my online shopping bag, but I hesitated to close the deal. $85 was more than I usually spend on one dress and perhaps, I could get a better deal if I waited a few days for Black Friday.
Wednesday evening, I received an email from Boston Proper announcing the particulars of their Black Friday sale: 40% off and free shipping! Wow! The $170 dress I longed for now cost only $51.
It was a deal I could not refuse and the dress is now on its way to my front porch.
By the way, the promo code for this sale is THANKS40 and it is good until midnight Sunday.

This brings two thoughts to mind, the first is what a lit fir a dress, the second is just his much of a commitment a regular blog is. It's not just the writing, but all the research, finding photos and all the rest.
ReplyDeleteHaving a little trouble understanding your comment. Specifically the phrase “what a lit fir a dress."
Deletemaybe lot for a dress?
DeleteFiona, that makes sense! Boston Proper’s prices are high and although I am often tempted to purchase their offerings, their prices put me off. Black Friday to the rescue!
DeleteYes some retailers are never ending . . . (Haband) Two weeks ago I saw a dress and handbag that I adored, but could not pull the trigger, even after two email offers - on Wednesday they Snail Mailed a written dead tree post card offer of 25% off the lowest price I had put in the checkout bin. Their emailed Black Friday offer was the same hutt! When applied it only covered some items - the physical card covered EVERY item in the checkout basket - Trigger pulled! Twelve items including the dress, palazzo pants, handbag and induction cook tops and other junk bought at midnight, all for less than the dress, alone! Old School is soooo Delicious!!

PS... That RED Dress is too die for!
ReplyDeletePlease model it for the crowd, watching!!!
Sara
I bought the black dress pictured in the body of the blog post, not the red dress. (The red dress IS to die for, but I cannot think of any occasion I will be attending where I could wear it.)
DeleteI Cant wait for you to model your new find.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I just visited the Boston Proper Site. I started at the clearance section and a 'pop-up' that announced "Refer a friend, 'give 25%-- GET $35.00' --probably a store credit--"
I sense a possible and lucrative 'side-hustle' for you....

(ps, you do have my email address. Unfortunately, I dont think they have anything in my size range.... but I will do a due diligence shop around.
To paraphrase an old adage - Good deals come to those who wait!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous dress and reward for your persistence. I shop at several sites who all use cookies to remember what I've looked at but not bought. Some tell me that item is now on sale, but never as persistent as Boston Proper. They were determined to sell you that dress and you weren't going to buy it until you got your price. Looks like a "win-win" to me!
ReplyDeleteI don't usually display my big ol' legs that much, but this dress will show off your fabulous legs While you'll look good in the dress, the dress will look all the better for you being in it. Please share a photo with us.

ReplyDeleteI've seen that Femulation before...
Wow - good catch, Emma! A three-timer and I suspect, not a civilian!
DeleteIs that the same boy? If it is him, he is no Civilian! Great work!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is the same “boy."
DeleteHe left "civilian" behind a long time ago. I'm guessing that's his own hair in the high school photo.
