Sandy at work |
Why Sandy?
The first of those five Halloweens occurred shortly after Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc throughout the Northeast in October 2012. We were lucky and only lost power after the storm.
The night before Halloween, power was restored, so I was able to carry out my plans to dress for work en femme even though there were no Halloween activities planned at work that day.
To make a long story short, when I showed up for work, my boss was ecstatic and gushed over my appearance. She also distributed a photo of me to all her acquaintances in the company and described the photo as "Sandy blew into town."
The name stuck and a lot of my co-workers called me Sandy during my Halloween appearances en femme.
And so it goes.

By the way, tonight is a girls' night out for me. I will be dining with two of my former bosses (both female) at a local restaurant to celebrate the holidays. And they will call me "Sandy."

I am not sure if you have decided on 'who' will attend the office Christmas party next week. Will either of the former bosses you will be dining with tonight be there? Will the subject of Stan or Sandy attending the party be discussed tonight? Inquiring minds want to know.

Hi Pat,
DeleteOne former boss (K) still works at my place, so she is invited and probably will attend. The other former boss (L) is retired and I dunno if she was invited.
But there's more! I received a text this morning from K asking me to change our restaurant reservation and add one more person: the executive assistant (J) who invited me to the office party and called me "Sandy." So I assume J knows that I present as a woman on days that are not Halloween.
I will bring up the subject at dinner and I am sure the three will say, "Go for it." (I am already 99% sure that I will go for it unless they have a good reason not to.)
I knew the Sandy story would be fun! Hugs Allison!
