I like the temperature, but I could do without the precipitation as I try to plan what to wear when I hob knob with our Governor and other politicians at GLAD's annual "Justice for All" reception in Hartford.
"I haven't a thing to wear!"
That's not true. I have plenty of outfits to choose from. I am just conflicted about which one to wear.
So, what does a girl wear to a Sunday afternoon reception with the Governor?
I think "Sunday afternoon" is the key. I should wear something similar to what my mother wore when she went to church on Sunday sans her usual white gloves and chapeau.
Wearing Boston Proper. |
George Logan and Patrick Fyffe femulating Dr. Evadne Hinge and Dame Hilda Bracket.
I'm wearing slacks and a blouse. Don't forget that most of the women there will be lesbians and for them a skirt or a dress is a foreign idea.
ReplyDeleteI guess I won't be femulating a lesbian! LOL
DeleteDress for the temperature rather than the off chance of rain. Shear hose will dry quickly if they get wet and there are umbrellas
ReplyDeleteI agree with Pat - dress for the temp. And I always say that a lady should look like a lady. So whatever that means to you, do it and own it. Personally I never miss a chance to wear a dress/skirt. Oh, and I almost forgot about Hinge and Bracket! Now I have to track down some video - they were VERY funny.
ReplyDeletelook at their website, there is a cd of their writings and dvds from amazon. George Logan is still alive ?still running a B&B in France. Patrick Fyffe died at 60 of cancer.
DeleteThanks Chris - I'll check it out.
