Although my spouse owns skirts and dresses, I can't remember the last time she wore one. Similar story with my 30-something daughter; she owns a few skirts and dresses, but I can't recall her wearing one. Fact is the "man" of the house owns more skirts and dresses than the women of the house.
Skirts and dresses are as scarce at work as they are at home.
There are a half dozen women in my workplace and they seldom wear skirted garments. Working along side 60 guys in an engineering environment may encourage their daily wear, but just next door is a company that employs about 50 women in an office environment and they also prefer slacks, trousers and jeans. The only exception are two transwomen, who usually wear skirts or dresses (and heels) whenever I see them.
And so it goes, I dress like a woman when I am in boy mode and I dress like a transwoman when I am in girl mode.

It's interesting reading your comments on dresses / pants from here in Europe. Here, most women wear dresses or skirts most of the time, often with heels. In the offices of major companies, skirts and heels are the norm. A woman who wears trousers all the time is generally looked at strangely.
ReplyDeleteStana---Love that pix of Jim Kelly in 1960's do you have any Pictures of Randi Taylor 60's Female Impersonator & info what happened to her?
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
I do have Randy Taylor pix. Dunno if she is still with us, but searching the Internet, I discovered that she supposedly had an affair with a married man who killed his wife.
DeleteThanks for info She was a role model for this teenage femulator

ReplyDeleteI find that the closer to the bigger cities one is, the more that women (especially younger w omen) will wear skirts and dresses. In the winter, I still see enough women in skirts/dresses on the NYC subway, that I know I can blend in. But even I have had to buy feminine pants so that I can blend in during inclement weather.

Hi Marian! I have a few pairs of feminine pants, but I wear them about as often as my wife wears dresses and skirts! LOL
DeleteThe only time I see skirts when I'm visiting Mom at the nursing home is when we watch old television commercials on the computer...back in the 50's women never wore pants!
ReplyDeleteToo bad Mom's memory is so bad she doesn't remember!

Dear Stana,
ReplyDeleteI NEVER wear ladies slacks or shorts when femulating. I bought one pair of definitely feminine slacks and never had the desire to wear them out. I donated them at my social/support group's charity event for battered spouses.
It's always a skirt, dress, or skirt suit for me when Sheila dresses at home or out. The more feminine the garment ... the better.
Love,
Sheila.
I agree Sheila i could never dream of wearing trousers whilst being Nadia just love dresses and heels x
DeleteThe girls in the office wear a mixture of dresses, skirts, trousers (jeans on a Friday). I don't think we have anyone that wears purely dresses and skirts but we do have a couple who wear just trousers.
ReplyDeleteOh I do wish skirts and dresses would be much more common, particularly in central Florida. As a result I dress so that I blend in more... meaning pants and such... sigh.

My workplace is all female with the exception of me. There are some co-workers who regularly wear dresses and skirts and the others only wear pants. The only absolute is the Friday Jeans. I made sure to tell everyone that I enjoyed the skirt when I dressed for Halloween. In all honesty, it was like being able to wear shorts.
ReplyDeleteHeather.
Most women behave like skirt wearing is something to be endured, not enjoyed. They would rather express their femininity with hair and makeup and reserve dress wearing for weddings and graduations.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly I find that I wear skirts, dresses, and heels less now than I did before I went "full time"
ReplyDeleteMany of the women I knew when I was working, felt more comfortable in pants and a nice top than they did wearing a dress or skirt. Most found it was easier to move around the work place without worrying about catching the hem of their skirt or dress on the office fixtures. As I've found too, one pair of pants can be matched with several different tops to allow more options.
ReplyDeleteI find that here on the West Coast, Millennials are much more likely to wear a dress or a skirt than older women. Companies like Title Nine promote that a woman can climb a mountain or play a sport and still wear a dress or skirt.
