I wanted to be Mary Tyler Moore when I grew up, so when I learned that she died Wednesday afternoon, I think part of me died along with her. I am sure I am not alone feeling that way.
Growing up, Mary was a weekly highlight, first on The Dick Van Dyke Show and later, on her own show. She was pretty, smart, stylish, spunky and just lovely... just like I wanted to be when I grew up.
I am very saddened by her death.

I share your thoughts on her. What I think clicked about her is that at all times she was totally feminine even when holding her own against Dick Van Dyke, Lou Asner, Ted Knight, etc. In her roles on those two shows she was at all times the equal of any man.

ReplyDeleteI never missed a single M.T.M. show,I loved her and I wanted to be her as well as all her feminine friends on that show as well. I would cheer her on every time she battled the men especially (Mr. Grant). I will miss her because she was really special. R.I.P.
ReplyDeleteI would watch her as much as I could on the TV in the 60s / early 70s when I was young. I was oblivious to the shows story lines I was 100% focused on how she looked moved and what she wore. As with Diana and Stacey I would dream of being with her, sometimes as a younger sister and at other times just wanted to be her.
