The baseball season is underway and I am finally catching the baseball bug again after swearing off the game last fall.
Watching Moneyball the other night got me in the mood and I took a break from doing taxes to watch a few innings of the Red Sox game on Sunday. I am also looking forward to the festivities surrounding the 100th anniversary of my favorite baseball venue on Friday.
On the baseball femulation front...
I loved playing baseball as a kid --- I could hit the ball a mile, but I threw "like a girl" and I ran so slowly you'd think I was wearing a tight skirt and heels.
I'd like to wear a tight skirt and heels to a game someday.
In the meantime, feast your eyes on the lovely lady in the accompanying photo; she is Mickey Mantle's nephew, Kelly Mantle.
Stana,
ReplyDeleteFenway is the greatest baseball park in the world! I have been going for over 50 years. When I was younger (1960), I got to see Ted Williams play live and to hit a home run over dead center field.
I hope you get a chance to at least go in a skirt if not a tight skirt.
and why can't you wear a tight skirt and heels to a game? One good reason?
ReplyDeleteHA! You think Wade Boggs ever had a nephew looking that good?
ReplyDeleteGo Yankees!
:D
Something else we have in common. As a kid I loved playing baseball. I could handle a bat better than anyone but had a noodle for an arm and, as you know, "you can't coach speed".
ReplyDeleteGreat find on Kelly Mantle. I was a huge Mickey fan. There was a great article/interview with Kelly in Girl Talk Magazine.
Regards,
Pat
Going Sunday to see my SF Giants play the Mets at Citi Field .
ReplyDeleteWould love to go to Fenway Enfemme with you.
Hugs
Diane
I was confused when I first read this. You are obviously a Red Sox fan, then go on to mention a family synonymous with the New York Yankees. When I re-read your blog this morning, I noticed my mistake. I had misread -- the lovely lady pictured is not Mickey's niece, but his nephew. Enjoyed a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteFYI, I'm a Tigers fan.

Dear Stana,
ReplyDeletePlease don't hate me for living in Tampa and being a Rays fan. I'm a polite fan -- although I love the Rays, I don't hate the Red Sox (or even the Yankees). I like and respect the Red Sox, especially David Ortiz and ex-Ray Carl Crawford. I naturally root for the Rays every game, but wish the Bosox the best in all their games (except when they play the Rays). I have been to 2 games at amazing Fenway Park. I even saw Yaz hit a homer late in his career. I loved when George "Boomer" Scott came to the plate, and the entire crowd chanted "Boom-ah, Boom-ah, Boom-ah".
Boston is a wonderful city, Fenway Park is a classic, and the Red Sox are a fine team.
Love,
Sheila.
Leann --- I also saw Teddy Baseball at Fenway (and at Yankee Stadium) in my youth!
