Ten days ago, I asked "How high?" was the latest ShoeDazzle offering named "Privy."
ShoeDazzle claimed that the shoe's heel was 5.5 inches, but added "that "measurements are approximate and may vary by size."
I surmised that in my size, the heel would be about 7 inches high because larger sizes require higher heels.
I wrote that "I cannot imagine walking in shoes with a 7-inch heel, but I am tempted to order the shoe just to see how really high it is."
I gave into temptation because in addition to my curiosity about the heel's height, the lime-green color of the shoe was a perfect match to a lime-green / white polka dot dress that I own.
The shoes arrived last night and I measured the heel as soon as I opened the shoe box.
The heel is not quite 7 inches high, but pretty close: 6 and 1/8th inches.
After measuring the heel, I slipped on the shoes and I am happy to report that I am able to walk in shoes with a 6.125-inch heel!
OK so you can walk in them (it is easier with platforms than you might expect) but will you walk in them. With heels this high you will certainly stand out, you will have to be feeling very confident to go out in them.

ReplyDeleteCalling it a 6" heel is a cheat though. Substract the height of the platform to get the correct height.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous II --- I don't understand your point. The platform does not make the heel any shorter; it is still 6.125 inches tall.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous II is right. You are not wearing a TRUE 6.125" heel. You would NOT be able to walk in a true 6" heel. You have to subtract the platform from the heel height to get a TRUE heel height

Good for you, Stana. I'm 5'7" and I avoid heels and platforms unless my date buys them for me!
ReplyDeleteHeel height in an ordinary shoe would equal the difference in height of the heel to the toe. A 6" heel would mean your heel would be 6" from the floor while your toes were on it. Maybe a mute point but it seems to me that todays figures for heel height are not directly comparable to those of yore.
ReplyDeleteI think Anon's point is if you subtract the thickness of the platform from the heel you get an idea how much the foot is arched, and that is what gives the arch to the full leg and butt. A 5" heel with a 1" platform arches the foot about as much as a 4" heel with no platform. A 4 1/2" heel with no platform arches the foot more, even though the overall heel is lower. I do not care for platforms myself, but I would agree with you, Stana, that that is a 6" heel. (today's "Femulate her" model has lovely shoes)
ReplyDeleteIn days of yore these figures meant more than today. The heel height then was the difference between heel and toe. Now unless platform height is noted the heel height is meaningless. Jan. (Anon 2)
