On weekends, be it Saturday or Sunday, people attend services of their chosen religion to worship their God.
Since it is Sunday and I missed Mass again, I had religious matters on my mind and thought this question would be an interesting topic for a poll: Did you ever attended a service of your religion en femme?
The poll is accessible in the right sidebar and runs until next Sunday, so vote today.
(By the way, I attended Mass en femme one time… two years ago at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City.)

Worship En Femme Poll

Since so many denominations do not accept us, I doubt many will answer in the affirmative.
ReplyDeleteMy experinece was after transition for a family funeral. So technically I wasn't "en femme" but I'll count it anyway.
I was dressed in cassock and cota as an altar server - then went home and wore cota with a bra - does that count ? :)
ReplyDeleteDoes weddings count?
ReplyDeleteStana we have a mutual friend that not only attends Mass crossdressed, but she is also on the Bishop's LGBT committee.
I've done weddings, vow renewals, Christenings and just plan ole' church as my fem self and have been confirmed, acknowledged, accepted and questioned in my own persona. My point here is, that God created me, I damn well have the right to show off Gods creation in God's house. Damn those that don't agree as they know not what they speak.
ReplyDeleteMany years ago I went to my house of worship late one night. I headed toward the restroom completely en femme. I only saw one person. It was an employee's brother. He say hello to me and I said hello back. I don't know if he thought I was a woman or not. I hope he did.
ReplyDeleteI have been to the Unitarian church in Boston several times... the minister, Rev. Kim Harvie-Crawford even gave me a kiss! But that was years ago... Unitarian and UCC churches will be often the most open and accepting...

Stana,
ReplyDeleteI am a church going catholic; when ever my wife is out of town on a weekend I go to mass dressed as well as communion and have never had a problem.

I belong to a More Light Presbyterian Church which at one time had a post op Minister as a Parish Associate. So having someone attend services "En Femme" was no big deal. In fact, having 10 TG people "En Femme" is no big deal. In fact, at a wedding between two womyn, one of the attendents was joking with me saying how great my dress looked and how she wished she had my figure. I asked her if she would like my figure (pads and prosthetics) in paper or plastic.
ReplyDeleteI almost always go to church en femme, and where I used to live had joined the United Methodist Woman's club at the church as well. I was asked at the the new church I occasionally attend (I end up working a lot on weekends, so seldom make it) to join the choir, which I politely deferred. My speaking voice does need work, and my ability to sing soprano is pretty much non-existent!

When I was eight, I was visiting my cousins and one of them was my age. My aunt kept trying to get us to cooperate and get ready for church. As a joke, my cousin dressed me up in one of her dresses. A nice dress! My aunt who didn't think it was funny said, "you look enough like a girl to go just like that." She then put a bow into my longish hair and I went. I felt a little embarrassed, but I loved it too.
ReplyDeleteI meant to mention in my earlier comments that anyone living in or visiting the Atlanta area, Ormewood Park Presbyterian Church is a welcoming congregation. We are PCUSA (Presbyterian Church USA) but are also a More Light congregation (look up More Light Presbyterians for info on what that means).
ReplyDeleteI too have gone to St Patrick's en femme but I often also go to daily mass en femme. After a couple of weeks of not being able to go, when I returned the priest asked me where I had been!
ReplyDeleteSo I guess I would have to answer yes, I do.
Because I pass in my day to day life I have attended services (not an Unitarian Church) continuously for about a 3 year period, without any incident. If I didn't pass I would had not even tried because my intention was to worship and not to create a circus around me or to test someone else's "acceptance".
