Earlier this month, I referenced two articles regarding fa’afafine transgenders in Samoa.
Another interesting article on the subject just popped up, this time from EDGE Boston, and I am happy to refer it to you, too.
The EDGE article reiterates some of the points of the previous articles, but also includes a revealing interview with Alex K Su’a, the president of the Samoa Fa’afafine Association.
I stumbled upon the EDGE article about fa'afafine transgenders in Samoa, and it struck a chord with me. Reading about Alex K Su'a's interview brought tears to my eyes as I felt their strength and resilience in navigating societal challenges. This piece beautifully captures the essence of the Samoa Fa'afafine Association's journey and the importance of embracing diversity.
ReplyDeleteReading about the fa’afafine of Samoa brought back fond memories of my trip to Samoa years ago, where I had the privilege to meet and interact with a few fa’afafine individuals. Their grace and resilience truly inspired me. Alex K Su’a's perspective in the EDGE article added a deep layer of understanding to my previous knowledge.
