Spring is in the air and it seems that males everywhere are donning pretty frocks to participate in womanless events, according to the many stories coming in on the mojo wire this week.
For example, Aunty Marlena revealed womanless beauty pageants in North Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, and again in Texas.
Meanwhile, Miss Google mentioned womanless pageants in Connecticut, Tennessee, and yet another in Tennessee.
Clive pointed out a viral video from Thailand.
And Aunty Marlena came back with a ton of Ednas (of Hairpspray fame) popping up in Alberta, California, Georgia, Michigan, New York, Texas, Some Place, and Some Place Else.
So, put on your favorite sundress and enjoy the femulating festivities!
This is something that I can never understand, and seems to eb an exclusively North American phenomena - Why on earth would straight, non trans men be interested in dressing up as women, for a beauty contest of all things?.
ReplyDeleteIn my more 'Po-Faced' moments I even disapprove slightly - feeling that they make being Trans into a spectacle - then I usually get sense and find it funny - still it does kind of beg the question as to why is it considered entertaining, funny or amusing for non trans persons to get dragged up?

ReplyDeleteWomanless Beauty Pageants are for the most part pretty bad. Usually 99% of them look like men dressed as women. (If they have beards, they don't care.)
ReplyDeleteEvery once in a while you'll see one that actually looks like a woman. A lot of times "she" even wins! Unfortunately, even those winners sometimnes neglected to shave their underams. Gag!
What gets me is the fact that Womenless Pageants are popular in the Bible Belt. The very place where trans folk have the most hatred spewed at them. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteYou may see it as a joke, however, I first realized how much i loved the feeling of feminine clothing at a womanless beauty pageant. So in my case these pageants that you frown upon, was a gateway for me.
