Transgender Thanksgiving Trivia
Did you know that Provincetown Harbor is where the Pilgrims initially anchored the Mayflower in 1620 after their ocean voyage from England? (Provincetown is the site of Fantasia Fair, the longest-running transgender event of its kind in the New World.)

Dear Stana,
ReplyDeleteLuckily, it's only 11 months to the next Fantasia Fair. I'm seriously considering attending it as my one T-Girl week long event this year. Please let us know when you make your decision as to your attendance in October 2011. This girl would love to meet you.
I would love to participate in the 3-outfit fashion show (that is a regular event at Fantasia Fair) -- my 3 ensembles would be: 1) either a casual (but pretty and girly) dress or businesswoman's skirt suit; 2) a knee-length or tea-length cocktail dress or LBD (Little Black Dress); 3) a floor-length soft flowing "Academy Awards" formal gown. I'd be in Heaven!
Love,
Sheila from Tampa.
Only you would think of a cartoon like that!

Dear Stana,
ReplyDeleteI learned the term "femulate" (and its relatives, like "femulated", "femulator", etc.) from you. Now, in today's delightful left sidebar "The Femulated" photo, you've taught me a new one, "cross-player". I read web info (including Wikipedia) on this topic -- very interesting. Apparently, "cross play" started with the increasingly popular gender-switching characters in Japanese anime. Some anime fans now "cross play" (crossdress as specific opposite gender anime characters) at conventions. Some of the Male-to-Female cross-players are probably transgendered (as you and I are), but many are apparently not transgendered, but enjoy playing a specific opposite gender anime character as a fan of anime (much like non-transgendered guys who dress as the "Rocky Horror Show" transvestite character). I find this fascinating and fun. Thanks for posting the cross-player photo (very cute indeed) and getting me to learn about this topic via web searches.
Love,
Sheila from Tampa.
I love the cartoon!! lol!
